TIME TRAVELING TO THE FUTURE & THE PAST!

Wormholes are another possible route for traveling backwards and forwards through time. In the 1960s, New Zealand mathematician Roy Kerr calculated that a spinning black hole collapses not into a point, but into a ring; if something passed through this ring, it might travel through a tunnel in spacetime called an Einstein-Rosen bridge, or wormhole. The two ends of the wormhole might connect to different universes, or to different points in the same universe (separated by time as well as space). Scientists have yet to actually find evidence for wormholes, but they do square with Einstein's theories of gravity.

Watch 'BORROWED TIME', a short film made by 2 PIXAR animators on their free time.

"Borrowed Time," a superb short from Pixar animators Andrew Coats and Lou Hamou-Lhadj, just made its online debut.

The emotional work, which observes a still-mourning sheriff as he recalls a tragic accident from his past, took around five years to make, and was created entirely in Coats' and Hamou-Lhadi's spare time. But for its creators, each minute was worth it. They're hoping to expand the world of American short film.

WATCH THE FILM BELOW:

“In America, animation has largely become synonymous with kids’ films, whereas elsewhere around the world it’s celebrated as a medium that can be used to tell any story,” Coats told Variety.

"Having worked on family films with a lot of heart and comedy, we wanted to do something outside of our comfort zone: a serious, action drama. We knew this would be a huge challenge for us,” Hamou-Lhadj added.

Best Scenes of Harley Quinn[Margot Robbie] in Suicide Squad

"I just didn’t understand how she could be such a bad ass and then fall to pieces over some guy. I found that really frustrating," Robbie said.

Harley Quinn

"Fans seem to really love that about her, that she has this complete devotion to a guy that treats her badly."

Robbie had previously described her character as being "incredibly devoted" to The Joker.

To help establish the unique chemistry between the two characters, Leto famously had a live rat delivered to Robbie while they were shooting.

"I was... surprised," Robbie recalled during an interview with Shortlist. "I was surprised! There's an understatement!"

"I loved that stuff. Jared was doing half my work for me," the actress continued. "Harley is very much a part of a relationship. To have such commitment from the other half made my job a thousand times easier, and a thousand times more fun. I didn't know what was going to happen when we got on set. It's exciting to act opposite that."

Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died at the age of 88

Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest-reigning monarch, has died at the age of 88, the palace announced Thursday, leaving a divided nation bereft of a rare figure of unity.

Bhumibol's death ends a remarkable seven-decade reign and plunges Thailand into a deeply uncertain future.

Most Thais have known no other monarch and he has been portrayed as a guiding light through decades of political turmoil, coups and violent unrest.

"At 15:52 (0852 GMT) he died at Siriraj Hospital peacefully," the Royal Household Bureau said in a statement.

"Although the team of doctors treated him to the best of their ability, his condition deteriorated," it said as large crowds erupted in mourning outside the hospital where the monarch spent most of the last two years.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha, the former army chief who leads Thailand's ruling junta, said that the king's 64-year-old son, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, is his named successor.

The Crown Prince is much less well known to Thais and has yet to attain his father’s widespread popularity. He spends much of his time overseas, especially in Germany, and is a keen pilot who flies his own Boeing 737.

In a televised address to the nation, Prayut said Thailand would hold a one-year mourning period and that all entertainment functions must be "toned down" for a month.

- National devotion -

Thai television stations switched to a special announcement that began with black and white photographs of the king, before a formally dressed presenter read out the palace statement.

Bhumibol's death is a major test for the country's generals, who seized power in 2014 vowing to restore stability after a decade of political chaos, a turbulent period exacerbated by the king's declining health as jostling elites competed for power.

The military has deep links with the palace and many inside the kingdom saw the putsch as a move to ensure generals could stamp down on any instability during a succession.

WATCH VIDEO BELOW

It is difficult to overestimate how important Bhumibol has been to most of his subjects, who from cradle to grave have been taught about his devotion to his people in newspapers, history books and nightly television broadcasts.

Backed by an intense palace-driven personality cult, he is revered as a demigod by many, seen as rising above the din of the kingdom's notoriously fractious political scene.

It is not unusual to see Thais moved to tears when they talk of a future without him.

Officially known as King Rama IX, he descended from the Chakri dynasty which came to power in Thailand in the late eighteenth century.

His subjects have had many years to get used to the prospect of no longer having Bhumibol -- their king has not been seen in public for months and has suffered years of ill health.

On Sunday and Wednesday the palace released two unusually grave health statements, saying the monarch was on a ventilator, battling kidney problems and that his condition was "not stable".

But his passing will still be a huge shock to the nation.

- Criticism muted -

His reign spanned a remarkable era in which Thailand transformed itself from an impoverished, rural nation into one of the region’s most successful economies, dodging the civil wars and communist takeovers of its neighbours.

He built a reputation for criss-crossing the nation to visit the rural poor and sometimes intervened to quell key moments of political violence -- although other times he stayed silent and he approved most of the army's many coups during his reign.

Any criticism or effective republican sentiment has been erased inside Thailand by a draconian lese majeste law, use of which has surged since the military’s latest takeover.

In recent years, and especially since the 2014 coup, the heir apparent Vajiralongkorn has made more frequent public appearances inside Thailand and taken on a larger number of royal engagements.

He will inherit one of the world's richest monarchies.

During his reign Bhumibol, with his establishment allies, built up a multi-billion-dollar-empire spanning property, construction and banks under the banner of the Crown Property Bureau (CPB).

Analysts say the CBP's vast reserves allowed the crown to build a deep network among the Thai elite, helping insulate the king from the political pressures felt by monarchs who rely chiefly on state funding.

The palace’s announcement that the king was gravely ill sent shudders through the stock market and pushed the baht currency to a two-month low earlier this week.

"The death of Thailand’s highly-revered king will plunge the country into a state of mourning, and also deep political uncertainty," Capital Economics said in a note.

"There is a risk that political tensions flare up, triggering a slowdown in economic growth," it said. "All eyes now will turn to the succession process."

STARTING UP A COMPANY? CONSIDER TO FOLLOW MARK CUBAN'S RULES.

1. Don't start a company unless it's an obsession and something you love.

2. If you have an exit strategy, it's not an obsession.

3. Hire people who you think will love working there.

4. Sales Cure All. Know how your company will make money and how you will actually make sales.

5. Know your core competencies and focus on being great at them. Pay up for people in your core competencies. Get the best. Outside the core competencies, hire people that fit your culture but aren't as expensive to pay.

6. An espresso machine? Are you kidding me? Coffee is for closers. Sodas are free. Lunch is a chance to get out of the office and talk. There are 24 hours in a day, and if people like their jobs, they will find ways to use as much of it as possible to do their jobs.

7. No offices. Open offices keep everyone in tune with what is going on and keep the energy up. If an employee is about privacy, show him or her how to use the lock on the bathroom. There is nothing private in a startup. This is also a good way to keep from hiring executives who cannot operate successfully in a startup. My biggest fear was always hiring someone who wanted to build an empire. If the person demands to fly first class or to bring over a personal secretary, run away. If an exec won't go on sales calls, run away. They are empire builders and will pollute your company.

8. As far as technology, go with what you know. That is always the most inexpensive way. If you know Apple, use it. If you know Vista, ask yourself why, then use it. It's a startup so there are just a few employees. Let people use what they know.

9. Keep the organization flat. If you have managers reporting to managers in a startup, you will fail. Once you get beyond startup, if you have managers reporting to managers, you will create politics.

10. Never buy swag. A sure sign of failure for a startup is when someone sends me logo-embroidered polo shirts. If your people are at shows and in public, it's okay to buy for your own employees, but if you really think people are going to wear your branded polo when they're out and about, you are mistaken and have no idea how to spend your money.

11. Never hire a PR firm. A public relations firm will call or email people in the publications you already read, on the shows you already watch and at the websites you already surf. Those people publish their emails. Whenever you consume any information related to your field, get the email of the person publishing it and send them a message introducing yourself and the company. Their job is to find new stuff. They will welcome hearing from the founder instead of some PR flack. Once you establish communication with that person, make yourself available to answer their questions about the industry and be a source for them. If you are smart, they will use you.

12. Make the job fun for employees. Keep a pulse on the stress levels and accomplishments of your people and reward them. My first company, MicroSolutions, when we had a record sales month, or someone did something special, I would walk around handing out $100 bills to salespeople. At Broadcast.com and MicroSolutions, we had a company shot. The Kamikaze. We would take people to a bar every now and then and buy one or ten for everyone. At MicroSolutions, more often than not we had vendors cover the tab. Vendors always love a good party.

NEO SUNGLASSES(PIKO TARO) (NEW PPAP)

If you thought the recent Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen (PPAP) song was a mere one-hit-wonder, the singer behind the viral track has a follow-up that's just as bad (or good, depending on your taste) and this time, it's about sunglasses. Yes, sunglasses.

Japanese comedian and singer-songwriter DJ Kosaka Daimaou, otherwise known as Piko-Taro, released the new track "Neo Sunglasses" on his YouTube page on Thursday (Oct 6).
PIKO-TARO

Wearing the same 70s-inspired yellow flamboyant disco outfit against a plain backdrop - as he did on the PPAP video released last month - the 53-year-old is seen dancing enthusiastically and drops Japanese words like "Kurai" and "Akarui" ("dark" and "bright" in Japanese) about his sunglasses.

The 57-second online clip has since garnered more than 4 million views while PPAP has been viewed on YouTube over 38 million times to date.

AUTO CALL DOORKNOB, an invention by a grade 9 Filipino student.

On the National Science Fair Competition held by a private company last October 5, a 15-year old grade 9 student from Baguio City High School surprisingly emerged as the winner due to his invention, an anti-theft security device.
AUTO CALL DOORKNOB

Jericho Villarico created a device meant to prevent robbers from breaking into houses of people through the automated detection features of the device through micro-controllers that detect fingerprints once the knob is rotated. As the device detects the input, it then dials the designated phone number to notify when a suspected robbery occurs.
WATCH VIDEO

The young genius took home a whooping P100,000 as well as his school due to the amazing invention. Aside from that, his invention's patent on the "Auto-Call Door Knob" has been officially launched.

Villarico came up with the idea after his family once became a victim of a robbery.

Two Philippine Congressmen almost had a Brawl/Fistfight

Two congressmen almost got into a fistfight as the debate over the mode of Charter change heated up at the House of Representatives.
Barbers and Pichay almost had a brawl.

The hearing of the House of Representatives constitutional amendments committee on Wednesday was adjourned following a near fistfight between Surigao Del Norte Rep. Robert “Ace” Barbers and Surigao Del Sur Rep. Prospero Pichay Jr.

The conflict started when Pichay opposed a motion of Deputy Speaker Cebu Rep. Gwen Garcia to recommend to the plenary the constituent assembly as a mode of Charter change.

The committee is tackling 29 bills for the amendment of the constitution through Constitutional convention (Con-con) and Constituent assembly (Con-ass).

The House is tackling measures for charter change following the call of President Rodrigo Duterte for Congress to convene in an assembly to propose amendments to the charter, particularly changing the form of government from unitary to federal parliamentary.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW

Pichay said the Senate should be invited first about Garcia’s motion, because the 1987 Constitution clearly stated that it is Congress, not just the House of Representatives, which could amend the Charter.

“The Constitution says Congress, not the House of Representatives. The resolution should be amended to invite the upper chamber to join us as far as the direct amendment is concerned,” Pichay said.

“The Constitution says Congress upon a vote of three fourths of all its members. Saan nakalagay ang Con-ass?” Pichay said.

Barbers shot back incredulously at Pichay’s view, and urged the committee not to entertain “stupid” motions.

“This is a point of order. Let us not be entertaining senseless motions, those are stupid motions. Let’s not pretend to be constitutionalists here,” Barbers said.

The hearing was suspended after solons argued over the issue.

While the hearing was suspended, Barbers walked all the way to the seat of Pichay at the other side of table, and started pointing his fingers at him.

“P***** i** mo?” Barbers was heard as saying, tapping Pichay on the shoulder.

“Anong problema mo (What’s your problem)? P***** i** mo rin,” Pichay shot back.

Pichay then stood up and almost grabbed Barbers if it not for Pangasinan Rep. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, who broke up what could have been a nasty scuffle in the middle of a House committee hearing.

The two congressmen were also pointing fingers and glowering at each other before the security separated the two.

Kabayan Rep. Harry Roque then urged the committee to adjourn the committee hearing.

“I move that we adjourn the hearing because we have a situation here,” Roque said.

In a phone interview, Barbers apologized for his actions. But he directed his apology to Congress and the public, not to Pichay.

“Sorry sa taumbayan. Uncalled for you ginawa ko. Kasi syempre it was just a verbal altercation. Wala namang physical na nangyari. Kung may nasagasaan ako, humingi hingi ako ng patawad,” Barbers said.

(I’m sorry to the public. What I did was uncalled for. It was a verbal altercation. Nothing physical happened. If I stepped on someone’s toes, I apologize.)

Barbers said his apology is not meant for Pichay, adding that he was also provoked by Pichay’s language.

“My apology is not to him (Pichay). Mali ko doon ay nagsalita ako ng masama na dala rin ng pagsasalita niya (I was wrong in speaking ill because of what he said),” Barbers said.

Pichay said it is Congress which deserved an apology from Barbers for his unparliamentary behavior.

“I was making a manifestation regarding the motion of Congresswoman Garcia…I only made an observation that we’re not Congress, we are the House of Representatives. Perhaps we should amend the motion,” Pichay said.

“Suddenly I don’t know where his anger came from. He uttered an unparliamentary word. He should apologize not to me, but to the institution. This is an institution where everybody should always act as a statesman. Hindi ito palengke (This is not a marketplace),” he added.

Pichay said he planned to file an ethics complaint against Barbers.

“I don’t need his sorry. I will file actually sa ethics committee for conduct unbecoming. That is a behavior that should not be tolerated by the House leadership,” Pichay said.

ETERNAL ENVY REVEALS SECRET + PUPPEY RAGE!

Another drama cloud is hovering over the Team Secret name as EternaLEnVy reveals in a blog post made earlier today, Team Secret’s shady business, payments delays and the dark side of his former captain, Puppey.

EternalEnvy, former Team Secret Player

A bit over six months after Secret’s management was firstly called out by Evany Chang for delayed payments to their players, Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao makes a rather long blog post in which he is disclosing the same issues and a bit more.

“A Secret Story” by EternaLEnVy talks about the organization still owning him money, unpaid salaries for months, percentages cuts that were never discussed, unfulfilled streaming deals with Panda TV and ends with a hefty part entirely dedicated to a very dark face of Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov.

Backing up his accusations with screenshots from his conversations with both Puppey (owner of Team Secret) and Kemal Sadikoglu (Director of Team Secret), Envy walks us through his entire stay at Team Secret, from the very first days of negotiations, even before joining the team, up to the post TI6 shuffle, when his new team was supposed to be an NA squad of Secret.

What is striking, after going through the entire blog post several times, is that in their conversations actual player contract terms never come up.

Moving on from the sponsorship and money issues, EnVy reserves a large part in his blog to the $1.25M + $250,000 in Donations “PandaTV deal”, where Puppey and Areezy should have had to stream on the Chinese platform a minimum of 30 hours per month and EnVy 60 hours per month. According to his statements the deal went off after Puppey failed to accomplish his part. “Noticed that not only did Puppey not uphold his end of the deal, but he didn’t even try. Streaming not 30 hours a month as promised but 12 hours in 3 months” EnVy says in his blog.

Towards the end of his post, EnVy describes Puppey as an “egotistical and aggressive” person, with real anger management problems, who gave up practice hours and did not show for scheduled scrims during TI6 in favor of drinking nights. He is depicted as bullying his players, with alleged discussions between Puppey and w33 that would often end up with Secret’s captain yelling “do you want to fight?”, “If you guys want to talk about who's right or who's wrong, why don’t we fight.”, or with broken keyboards.

Although his only proof for what he describes about Puppey would be his teammates’ word, EnVy reveals at the end of the post a short video for which he was threatened to be kicked out of Secret if he made it public. “ He [Puppey] told me that if I ever leaked the video he’ll kick me from Secret. Well, I’m not part of Secret anymore. “

According to the same post made by EnVy, Misery will be the next ex-Secret player to bring into the lights the issues he faced with the team.

FIRE IN JURONG WEST WET MARKET AND COFFEE SHOP

SINGAPORE - A huge blaze engulfed the coffee shop and wet market at Block 493, Jurong West Street 41, early Tuesday (Oct 11) morning, forcing about 300 residents from the surrounding blocks to be evacuated.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post it was alerted to the "raging fire" at around 2.45am, and dispatched three fire engines, four red rhinos, seven support vehicles and four ambulances.

Aftermath from the Fire that hit the Jurong West Wet Market, Singapore
It found the wet market and coffee shop at the block to be completely engulfed in flames and quickly deployed six water jets and an aerial monitor to combat the flames.

"At the height of the fire, the roof of the wet market collapsed and the exterior side wall of a coffee shop at Blk 494, which was directly facing the raging blaze, sustained fire damage," SCDF added.

The fire was extinguished by 4.15am and damping down operations were in progress.

An estimated 300 residents from the surrounding blocks were evacuated by police and SCDF officers, with residents progressively being allowed to return to their homes.

While there were no injuries, a woman in her 60s experienced breathing difficulties during the evacuation and was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Jurong GRC MP Ang Wei Neng, who visited the scene of the fire on Tuesday morning, told reporters that help was being rendered to affected stall owners in the wet market to either operate elsewhere or set up an alternative site nearby.

One option being explored is a newly-built basketball court at Block 498, Mr Ang said.

He added: "The wet market's building structure does not appear to be safe, so it will take a while before they can access the area. The two coffee shops adjacent to the market are also unlikely to operate for now."

Facebook user Max Li, who lives nearby, said he was awoken in the middle of the night by a loud bang and was shocked to see the wet market in flames.

Mr Tan Cheng Koy, 70, a retiree who lives with his wife and four children in the corner-most second-floor unit of Block 494, told The Straits Times he was in his bedroom watching television when he heard the sound of firemen setting up their equipment.

"I opened my window to see what was happening, and there was a lot of smoke. Smoke was coming in through my kitchen window. Our vision was almost completely blurred. We immediately ran out," he said.

Mr Tan added that he and his family were only allowed to return to their unit at around 10am.

"The floor is still hot now. And the small window in my bedroom has shattered from the heat of the flames."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
